Climbing and Rappelling have been part of Faroese life for centuries. These days climbing is a fast growing sport in the Faroe Islands. The rough, wild terrain creates awesome conditions for climbing. Many parts of the islands are still relatively unexplored because of the need to climb or rappel to get there. With the growth of climbing the exploration of these hidden locations is becoming more possible and we’re seeing places nobody has ever been to.
Norðradalur has a great, natural outdoor climbing wall. It is open for anyone to go climbing there. However, if you lack climbing experience we will be happy to secure (belay) you. The routes range from 13 to 40 meters high (easy to hard), most of which are approximately 20 meters high. The rock quality at Norðradalur is different from anywhere else on the Islands – the rock is very firm, strong and a bit porous, creating ideal conditions for Climbing. Norðradalur is also good for rappelling, and it’s possible to rappel almost 50 meters. Click here to learn more about Rappelling.
